Services

  • Stump grinding

The wheel takes the stump to 8 to 12 inches below grade so you can sod, seed, plant, or pour over it.

    $3 per inch · $125 minimum

  • Four or more in one visit

Fence lines, hedgerows, a lot cleared after a takedown. The machine is already on the trailer, so the rate drops.

    $2.50 per inch

  • Surface roots

Roots lifting a sidewalk, cracking a driveway apron, or scalping under the mower deck. Ground flush and back-filled.

    $75 per hour

  • Chip haul-off

A ground stump makes a surprising pile. We can load it out, or leave it for your beds. Say which when you call.

    $50 per stump

  • Topsoil and seed

Chips out, topsoil in, fescue seed and straw over the top so the patch grows back instead of sinking.

    $40 per stump

  • Storm work

After a line of wind comes through, we run longer days and take same-week calls first. Call and we will tell you where you land.

How the price is figured

Stumps are priced by diameter, measured across the widest point at ground level, not by how tall the tree was. A tape measure and thirty seconds gets you the number.

We quote before the machine comes off the trailer, and the quote is what you pay. If a stump turns out to be sitting on a slab or wrapped around a gas line, we stop and talk to you rather than run the meter.

Utility locate is free and takes about three business days in Missouri and Kansas. We call it in for you on every job with digging near a line.

Grinding takes about forty minutes. You keep the chips or we take them.

The work

Operator running a self-propelled stump grinder in a front yard with brown shield panels standing around the cut to catch flying chips.
Shield panels up before the wheel goes in. They keep chips off the siding, the windows, and the neighbor's car.
The same front lawn after grinding, with a wide circle of soil and chips where the stump was and mown grass all around it.
The same yard once the machine is off it. Chips raked level, ready for topsoil.
A tow-behind stump grinder working a yard stump beside a pickup truck, with a fan of pale wood chips spread across the grass.
Yard stump ground flush, chips left where they fell for the homeowner's beds.
A worker in a red shirt and hard hat operating a walk-behind stump grinder inside a walled garden bed.
The walk-behind goes through a 36 inch gate for stumps a tracked machine cannot reach.

Before we arrive

Not required, but it keeps the machine off the things that cost money.

  • Flag your sprinkler heads and invisible fence. Both sit shallow and both are invisible to us. Marking paint or a golf tee is plenty.
  • Measure your narrowest gate. The tracked machine needs 42 inches. The walk-behind gets through 36. Under that, a panel usually has to come off the fence.
  • Move what is close. Planters, hoses, low branches, patio furniture, anything within about fifteen feet of the stump.
  • Point out the septic lateral field if you have one. We keep the machine off it.
  • You do not have to be home. Plenty of jobs are quoted by photo, done while you are at work, and paid after.
